IP Address Lookup - Free IP Location Finder

Quickly find any IP address location worldwide. Get details like country, city, ISP, latitude, longitude, and network information with a single lookup

An IP address lookup shows where an IP address is likely to be and which network it belongs to. Enter any IPv4 or IPv6 address to see its version, country, region, city, approximate coordinates and the ISP or organisation it is registered to. To see your own address instead, use What's My IP Address?.

How to look up an IP address

  1. Enter the IP address, e.g. from a server log, an email header or a login alert.
  2. Click Lookup IP to see the results. A quick automatic check keeps the lookup free from automated abuse; you only need to click a box if it asks you to.

Understanding your results

  • Country, state and city come from the IP2Location LITE geolocation database, which maps address ranges to places.
  • ISP is the organisation the address range is registered to in the regional internet registry's records: an ISP, mobile carrier, hosting company, cloud provider or large organisation.
  • Latitude and longitude are the centre of the estimated area, not the location of a device or building.
  • IP version tells you whether the address is IPv4 or IPv6.

How accurate is IP geolocation?

Country-level results are usually correct. City-level results are approximate: they often show the location of the ISP's network equipment or the registered address of the organisation, which can be far from the actual user. Addresses belonging to VPNs, mobile carriers, cloud platforms and corporate proxies show the provider's location, not the person behind them. Use IP location as a hint, never as proof of where someone is.

Common uses

  • Checking a login alert: see whether an unfamiliar sign-in came from your own ISP or from somewhere else entirely.
  • Reading server logs: find out which networks your traffic, or a burst of suspicious requests, comes from.
  • Investigating email: look up the sending server's IP from the message headers, then check its reverse DNS and blocklist status.
  • Checking where a website is hosted: get its IP with an A Lookup, then look the IP up here.

Frequently asked questions

Can I find someone's exact location from their IP address?

No. Public geolocation data identifies a region or city at best. Only the ISP can connect an address to a subscriber, and it normally does so only for law enforcement or a court order.

Why is there no location for 192.168.x.x or 10.x.x.x addresses?

Those are private addresses used inside local networks. They aren't unique on the internet, so they have no public location or owner. Look up the network's public IP instead.

Why is the ISP shown as a hosting or cloud company?

The address belongs to a data centre, so the traffic came from a server, VPN or proxy running there rather than directly from a home or mobile connection.

Who owns this IP address range?

The ISP field shows the registered holder. For the full allocation, including the network range, regional registry and ASN, run a WHOIS lookup on the IP.
